Charlotte's First Year Scrapbook-Weeks 5 & 6

So my computer crashed on me a couple of weeks ago, so I've been MIA while trying to get everything back up and running! Here are weeks 5 & 6 of Charlotte's scrapbook. Enjoy!

Embossing Technique

My husband's brother-in-law had a birthday a few weeks ago. I wanted to make him a birthday card...but you know how making cards for guys usually goes... Thankfully, I really liked the card I had made for my dad's birthday, so I decided to go with the same color combination and the same stamp set. I had seen this technique and layout over on Andrea Walford's blog a few weeks ago, so I decided to use the same idea for this card.

I stamped the circle image in Versamark, then embossed with clear embossing powder. I then took a sponge, rubbed it on the classic ink pad, then rubbed the ink over the embossed image. This technique allows me to color the "negative" part of the image. I think the effect is really cool! Again, the "Happy Birthday" stamp is from a retired stamp set (sorry again!)--the same hostess set that I used for my dad's birthday card and my sister's anniversary card. I guess I should have done some more stamping last year since I really like this set!

Happy Stamping!
Cari

Charlotte's First Year Scrapbook-Weeks 3 & 4

You can see Weeks 1 & 2 and an explanation of my album here. I wanted to keep the same theme throughout the album--meaning same colors, same papers, same fonts, etc. This is another way that My Digital Studio rocks my world! If I tried to make a 52-page scrapbook using the same colors, papers, etc., I would have to buy so many packs of Designer Series Paper, sheets of Quick Accents, and Simply Scrappin' Kits that I would have spend hundreds of dollars just for the supplies. BUT in My Digital Studio, you spend a couple of dollars on a digital download that you can use as many times as you want! This means that I can use the same DSP, same buttons, same ribbon, same card stock throughout my entire album without having to count the cost of using these items on each page. I've already bought and downloaded them, so I get to use them all I want! I love that!
